Why The Motorcycle Lift Is Usefull In Many Ways

By Brian Kirkland

While motorcycle lifts are in some respects very similar to car lifts, I have had a number of requests from clients, asking that I outline some of the basics, so for those who share this view, let?s take a quick look.

People working in the motorcycle market doing jobs in repairs, modification or even the selling of the bike will no doubt have used one of these lifts and will be aware of how useful they are. Motorcycle lifts are large tables in which take the load of the bike and raise it above the ground level so that the user of the lift can then inspect the motorcycle in much more detail as opposed to when the bike is on the ground. Advantages that this can bring are that the person inspecting the bike will not have any strains on their body that are commonly related to repairs that take place on the ground. So if you look at it from a health and safety view then these lifts are a must.

As one might expect, motorcycle lifts are much smaller than their car lift counterpart. For the home user this comes as a welcome relief as now they can be sure they can use these in their home garage or large shed. The good thing is that as these lifts are accessible to the home market, now motorbike enthusiasts can inspect and repair their own bike now with no requirement to take their bike into a professional garage saving themselves some money in the process. The maintenance of the motorbike becomes more accessible also when using these lifts, tasks such as oil changes no longer will require the bike owner to lie on the cold hard ground.

9 time out of 10 the motorcycle lift is made from stainless steel and the lift is usually powered by hydraulic cylinders These cylinders are able to handle a weight of up to seven hundred kilograms or one thousand pounds of weight in most cases.

You can get a number of different variety of motorcycle lifts on the market these days. Most of which handle just a standard motorbike. Some lifts have the ability to make themselves long enough for the larger motorcycles such as a Harley Davidson or a Chopper.

Again just like the car lift before it, motorcycle lifts must be respected pieces of equipment and you must be very cautious in using them. Always make sure you have turned of the motorbike engine before raising it, make sure that you keep a close eye on the security blocks found on the lift and that the bike is secured tightly into place.

Also, if you do decide to buy a motorcycle lift for your personal or business use, then please get into the habit of regularly cleaning and maintaining it, not only will this let you have the lift table for a longer duration due to the care it received, but it will keep it functioning in a safe manner.

Before you buy, find out the requirements are for your bike and the lift you buy. Make sure you only spend your hard earned cash on a bike lift that ticks all your personal boxes so that when you have it you can make the most of it and use it to its fullest potential.

Lastly; as with car lifts, professional motorcycle lifts require more frequent maintenance than do their domestic counterparts so here again, it?s advantageous to have a qualified mechanic in charge of maintaining it. While the professional lifts do cost more, both to buy and maintain, they soon pay for themselves, particularly if you?re in the motorcycle repair business. - 21392
