A Guide To Driving For Learners

By John Robertson

Here are some steps to learning to drive. You may be nervous about learning to drive and you may be anxious to get your license and get on the road, so here is a quick guide to get you started and moving towards your goals to safely driving with a driving license.

There are a few basic steps involved with learning to drive. You will need a learning permit, the study guide for driving, your state's BMV or DMV website, an empty parking lot, a driver with a license, and practice. It can be stressful to learn to drive, just take it slow, and follow each of these steps.

In order to start practicing driving you need to get a learner's permit from you local state BMV or DMV, which is the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or Department of Motor Vehicles. There are a number of locations that you can get this from; however, some states specify specific locations for those forms. Most often, you can find the website for your state through a search engine, any search engine.

Study the guide and learn the rules of the road, most states allow learners to take practice tests at the BMV/DMV website. Road rules are common sense, right? Well, even people who have driven for years do not always get all the answers correct on the driver's test. Study the booklet, use the practice tests online, and check with your state BMV/DMV to see if you have to pay each time, you take the test if you do not pass. It will remove a lot of stress if you can take the written part free if you do not pass it.

Empty parking lots are the best place to start practicing driving. Busy cities can be hard to find an empty parking lot during the day; however, if you wait until night you can also practice your nighttime driving. Additionally, many areas have free parking lots during the weekends or over holidays. Parking lots give plenty of room to practice using the gas and brakes during turning and driving.

When you are ready to take your very first drive on the road, with the other cars, do your safety checks and remember that you will need to try to relax. To begin, stay on the roads that are only 35 miles per hour, and avoid high traffic areas where stress will increase. Avoid the highways until you are comfortable driving in city areas.

The best part of learning to drive is the pride you get when you pass your driver's test. After you have practiced driving for a few months and feel comfortable behind the wheel, take the practice tests and then go in for your final test to get your license. Always remember safety first, even after you get your license.

Learn to drive with practice and you will find that driving safely is easy. A few steps and a few months of practice will help you get on the road, moving towards where you need, and want to be. Get your permit, get a driver to go with you, and start learning to drive. - 21392
