Choosing Between Flying And Driving Articles

By John Robertson

Some families have the same argument every year at vacation time. What is the best way to get there? For some families, the choice is very evident. For others, the choice may not be as easy. If yours is one of those families that has a difficult time in making these choices, then you should read some driving articles in your favorite travel magazines that will help with the choice.

As you read these articles, you may find help in making the choice. They may also help you to consider some of the items that you may not have thought of up until this time.

Driving articles may mention the fact that flying does sometimes save time. When there are special circumstances surrounding your situation, flying may be the only option. Many people do not want to spend an entire vacation getting to and returning from a destination. People who do not face such time limitations or who can reach their destination in less than a couple of days may choose to drive.

A second consideration that you will find in a flying verses driving article may be cost. For many families during the current economic situation, this may be the primary consideration. Which option actually costs less? When figuring expenses, you should not forget that the cost would be more than just gasoline costs verses flying costs. In addition to the cost of fuel, you must figure wear and tear on your vehicle. Additionally you will need to spend more money for food and possibly hotel costs. Some families find that by adding all these expenses to the trip, they actually save money by flying. Other families feel that they would be eating in either case so that the cost of meals is not a significant factor in the travel.

When reading driving articles, you may be reminded that driving is fun. The sightseeing and driving are a major part of family fun for many families. In all fairness, you need to remember that there are also great sights to be seen from an airplane. Truly this is a matter of choice for your family.

When choosing to drive, you should make sure that your vehicle is sound mechanically. Your trusted mechanic is invaluable in these situations. You vehicle may have more that one day's worth of driving. Engine parts will be tried to the max for eight hours or more daily at highway speeds. This is not the time for a hose, belt, tire or brake to fail.

When you choose to drive your vehicle, be sure to take plenty of safety breaks. You will arrive much more rested and will avoid the danger of an overly exhausted driver behind the wheel. If you do become overly tired, be sure to change drivers if possible. If this is not possible, then you should stop for the night and get some sleep.

Remember, you are traveling with your most precious cargo. You will want everyone to return home happy and healthy. - 21392
