Affordable Automobile Insurance -- Steps For Cheaper Rates

By Chimezirim Gabriel Odimba

You can reduce your rates considerably by compromising the scope of coverage you enjoy. That's NOT good. You can, however, easily pay far less without reducing the scope of your coverage if you understand and implement the right tips. Let's go deeper into this...

1. A multi-vehicle discount is a smart and simple way to enjoy more affordable rates. You can only do otherwise if the total of your premiums across different insurers is less than what you'll be given with a multi-vehicle discount if you buy from one insurer. You can ensure you are making the right choice by doing extensive comparison shopping. But however you look at it, a multi-vehicle discount is one way to get cheaper rates.

2. Under-25 drivers pay really expensive rates. If you fall into this age range you can get more affordable rates if you maintain good grades at school.

To have this, however, you must keep getting a minimum of a "B" grade. This will shave off up to five percent from your rate if you qualify. Experience has shown insurers that what makes a student maintain excellent grades is a level of responsibility which such students also maintain behind wheels. Reckless students are very unlikely to keep getting good grades.

3. You can get a sizeable discount if your child doesn't use the car for a protracted time frame because he/she is is in college. If your kid is in college then you should talk to your auto insurance agent about your eligibility for this discount. I must point out, however, that a number of insurance providers do not give this discount.

4. People who reside in crowded areas are more likely to experience one form of car accident or another when compared to folks who stay in rural areas. If you can stay in a sparsely populated area you'll attract the lower quotes because the risk of vandalism, crash or theft is so low in such areas. The more highly populated where you live is, the higher your rates.

5. It's a known fact that young drivers attract high rates. More so, the younger an under-25 driver, the more they'd have to pay. That is why teenagers pay a lot more than 22-year olds.

So you'll do well to NOT place your teenage driver on your policy. It will drive it up by a huge margin. Sign an exclusion form that will allow your teen driver have his or her own policy.

If a teen is keen on driving then then should be made responsible for at least the cost of their auto insurance. This act will save you more than money as your teen driver will happily listen when suggestions are made on things that will bring down the high rates they pay. The full implication of this is that your teen will be a lot safer as they'd do their best to avoid inflating their rates. - 21392
