Tips For Using Moving Companies From North America Transfer

By Ryan Karn

Planning is the most vital part of every move. North America Transfer provides the packing materials and labor through loading, safe driving and unpacking. North America Transfer makes sure all your needs are met. From start to finish, North America Transfer handles the details.

Moving companies calculate your move cost by the size of your move, the distance from origin to destination and any special requests. Most moving companies offer anything from packing and unpacking, storage and car transport.

An estimate is to furnish you with an approximate cost of your move. North America Transfer will go over packing services, valuation, your move schedule and any special needs you might have. When you have set the day to move notify your sales rep immediately to schedule your desired pick up and delivery dates. The last week of a month and the period from May through September are extremely busy, and advance notice is recommended.

Your remaining balance is due at the time of delivery by cash or Postal Money Order only. The driver will then unload once the payment is received. You will need to check with your sales rep prior to moving day to determine if a credit card payment is accepted and what restrictions apply.

You will be presented by the driver your Bill of Lading. This document authorized the carrier to move your goods. A Household Goods Descriptive Inventory is required to be done by your driver. This includes a brief note of your goods' condition. You need to sign the inventory. Should you have additional services needed, the Additional Services Preformed Origin/Destination Service and Delivery report will also be completed by the driver and signed by you.

As your belongings are being unloaded you need to check off the items on your inventory sheet. Also you should have an idea of where the furniture should go because the movers are only required to place your furniture once. As the movers unpack you they will take the items out of the boxes and place them on a counter or table. Should the moving company unpack you, you can ask them to dispose of the used materials and boxes when they are done. Keep in mind, unpacking is not included in your quote, you need to request this from your sales rep.

Movers are very careful however accidents can happen. If you have any of your items lost or damaged you will want to make a list of these items. You will want to get the number from your Bill of Lading and call the moving companies Customer Service Department. You will have two months from the date of delivery to file a claim. Its suggested though that you do it the first chance you get. - 21392
