New Technology in Cars - What We Can Look Forward to in 2010

By Steve Simpkins

New technology in cars enhances the safety and upgrades the driving experience. A 2000 car is going to be much different than one made for 2010. And, even cars that were made just five years ago do not have all of the features that one coming off the line this year will. You can expect that the new technology in cars this year will completely overhaul your driving experience. Here are some of the upgrades you can expect in the coming year.

GPS devices have been on the market for some time. But now they come with almost every new car. The wonderful thing about global navigation systems is that you just enter your destination and you are guided there by voice and visual directions.

Fuel economy is a concern with higher gas prices. In fact, many drivers switch off the air conditioning when the weather cools down in the fall. But new car models take care of switching off the A/C and other non-essential systems automatically.

While airbags have been standard for some time, recent models have featured curtain airbags. These safety features reduce the likelihood that passengers in either the front or back seats will sustain head injuries.

Just like the "black boxes" in airliners, event data recorders can show proof of driving speed, the location of the car and other details. This feature is most useful for things like car insurance claims and legal issues related to accidents.

Don't you hate having to pull over to the side of the road to change a tire? Now some hybrid owners won't have to thanks to the "run flat" tire feature which allows them to drive up to 50 miles with no air pressure in their tires.

There are so many advanced car technologies. And, we haven't seen the end of what's coming. In fact, cars that park themselves aren't all that far away ad even a car without a driver is on the drawing boards!

The new technology in cars has increased at an amazing speed. Cars are now more comfortable and safer than ever before. - 21392
