By Patrick Mole

If you are going in the market to purchase a used car or are looking for cheap old cars for sale, may want to do a search for inexpensive cars or even government auction cars these are all phases car dealer ships used to entice the car buying public.

Using the words "cheap" or "old" in their car commercials would not be a good advertising technique, since most people equate those words with badly damaged products even though this may not be the case.

But many people would be impressed if they saw a company offering "cheap old cars for sale", and would think that they'd found an honest man. Until that day comes, where can you find great deals on low priced cars?

Listing your used car for sale on a popular site like Craigslist may be your best bet. Gone are the days when newspaper advertising was your only option. Craigslist gets huge traffic daily and will allow you to list your used vehicle for free.

Many big name advertisers who used newspapers to showcase their products are now moving away from this form of media. Which has forced newspaper companies to close shop.

New Car Buying Money Saving Tips

By David Redfoot

Tips for buying your new car and not letting emotion get the better of you. It's exciting sitting behind the wheel of those gleaming new models. The problem is that it is normally the dealer in the driving seat when you come to work out the deal. You have to be prepared.

After some careful research, you will have decided what you can afford and what kind of car you really need. You set out with that in mind but then you see the sparkling paintwork and chrome and ...!

The salesman senses a kill. He has picked up on what you would really like and he's going to make sure that you get it. He'll convince you that the amazing deal he can get you puts it in your price range. But you'll have to buy today.

If he can't sell you a more expensive model, he can make some of those optional extras seem essential. Throw in servicing and tyres through the dealer and his great finance rate and your all set. It's costing you practically nothing.

As you leave the lot, you are feeling pretty good. That's because you don't realise how you have followed the dealers carefully constructed plan. Each step gives him the chance to take more money out of your pocket.

The dealer has a playbook of pressure tactics and psychological tricks that are designed to get you to buy now and at the maximum profit for him. They range from subtle, to not so subtle, to downright dirty. And he's an expert in deploying them.

A good tip for buying your new car is, don't. You have to prepare your own strategy before you go to the dealer. Know what models would suit your needs and budget. Set limits that you won't go beyond. It's a major purchase and worth some effort to get right.

You have to develop the mindset that you won't be influenced by emotion. You are spending a lot of money and it's up to you when and where you do. There are lots of dealers and many offers. There is no pressure on you to buy. Knowing in advance that you might have to walk away makes it easier.

If you feel under pressure, tell the dealer that you are going to buy, but not necessarily now and from him. Take back control and then ask for a better deal. There may be unadvertised offers. I got a salesman to check on this and saved $700! - 21392

Will Buying a Hybrid Car Save on Petrol?

By Colin Jones

When you drive up to the petrol station pump and fuel your car up with $10-$50 worth of gas, you may find yourself releasing a huge out sigh. How on Earth did fuel become so expensive? Should you consider one of those new hybrid cars you saw on the TV? Everyone's talking about hybrid cars anyway. Hybrid cars and other types of cars may seem like a good idea, but before you go out and do something you'll regret, perhaps you should ask yourself some basic questions about how you can start to save money on fuel.

Nowadays, there are so many options out there including everything from staying home to purchasing a hybrid car, but you have to find out what is best for you personally and you can best do that by posing yourself the following questions.

Perhaps you should drive less often?

Of course, you could spend the rest of your life in the house on the couch, but how would you eat then? I know what you're thinking! You will walk more and so get more exercise. That could be true, but what will happen when you get bored with walking or riding your bike? How are you going to be able to get to the gym then? And, have you forgotten about work? You know you love listening to your books on tape while you are sitting in traffic at the end of the workday. Should you drive less? Probably not then. But what should you do? Well, have you ever considered buying a hybrid vehicle?

Perhaps, I should buy a car that is more economical on gas?

Yes, you could do this, but what about when the vehicle starts to depreciate with age and it becomes less fuel-efficient than you thought it would be? Moreover, subconsciously, because you know you have a car that gets more mileage per dollar, you are going to start travelling more miles than you traveled before.

How about getting up earlier each morning to look for the cheapest gas prices in the area?

Honestly, who has the time for that? If you think about it, you could probably spend your time better finding the right answer to the real question. Do you really want to spend extra time looking for a cheap gas station? What will your boss think if you arrive late for work and tell him you were trying to save money on gas? And really, how long do you think you'll keep doing that?

Should I find a way to run my car on electric?

Let's see, you certainly don't want to have to recharge your car's batteries every day before you go to work because that might make you late as well. However, with a hybrid car, that would not be a consideration. Therefore, the next question should be obvious.

Should I purchase a hybrid car?

Perhaps you should. It's possible that buying a hybrid car could be a sensible way to avoid paying higher gas costs. Will your car depreciate right after you drive it off the forecourt? A hybrid won't do that so readily as it brings the buyer in more and more money as they save on fuel. A hybrid car just might be a good solution here. However, it is always a good idea to conduct further research before buying a hybrid car. - 21392

Evaluating Car Insurance Coverage Options

By Evelyn LeGrand

One of the most necessary -- and required -- aspects to owning a car is having car insurance to cover you, your vehicle and in some cases, the other driver should you find yourself in the unfavorable position of being in an accident. Like most insurance, car insurance can be confusing and difficult to understand... especially if you have an insurance agent whose primary focus is selling, selling, selling rather than providing you with the service and coverage you need. And that leads us to another question, how much car insurance do you actually need? And, how much is it going to cost you?

You definitely want to sit down with an insurance agent in order to determine the right amount of coverage necessary for your vehicle since every state has different laws that apply to what is required when it comes to insurance coverage. However, you can receive a car insurance quote -- either online or by phone -- in order to find out the approximate monthly out of pocket cost that is going to apply to you.

It is important, from a basic business point of view, for you to do your homework where the cost of insurance is concerned. This will prevent any unscrupulous insurance agent from taking advantage of you by charging you too much for whatever insurance coverage it is you need. Too, by searching for car insurance quotes, it may also be possible for you to find an insurance company that is reputable, but has much lower prices than their competition. This is probably one of the main reasons people request car insurance quotes in the first place. Once you have narrowed down your search to two or three insurance companies, you can schedule an appointment with each of them in order to determine what type of coverage is required in the state in which you live.

If you are just searching for the minimum coverage you can purchase, you will certainly need to find out exactly what that minimum will not cover in the event of an accident. Fortunately, the minimum required car insurance that is required in one state is often similar to that of other states, though specifics -- such as dollar amounts -- may be higher or lower. Typically, all states require bodily injury and property damage coverage, but some also require you to carry uninsured (or under-insured) motorist coverage as well.

When you are seeking your car insurance quotes, it might be beneficial for you to include this coverage as well, especially if you plan on traveling to a state that requires it. Once you have scheduled your appointments, prepare a list of questions and you will be able to choose your insurance agent, and the coverage you need, with confidence. - 21392

Thinking About Getting A Carport?

By Briget Rivers

Carport construction projects, like all major projects, benefit from careful advanced planning. There are a variety of important factors to consider when building a carport. Serious thought and careful planning of a carport will pay off down the road. A failure to properly plan will undoubtedly result in a finished carport that exceeds your budget or perhaps fails to meet your needs. Among the many criteria to consider include the five things outlined below.

1. Carport Plans. There are a number of different ways to get carport plans. You could design and plan your carport yourself. It?s best to have some sort of building or engineering experience before you undertake this process. You can buy a packet of pre-designed architectural plans. Alternatively, you could buy a pre-fab carport kit? Lastly, you could hire a contractor who will design the carport on your behalf.

2. Carport construction material. Do you want the carport to compliment your house (which might cost extra money in lumber and brick)? Do you need the strength of a steel carport or will aluminum suffice?

3. Where on your property will your carport be located? Try to think of a few potential locations before making a final decision. If the car port is located adjacent to your home you can share a supporting wall and thereby save some time and cost. Perhaps it would be best for your carport to be an independent structure nearby the house.

4. What do you want to achieve by constructing the carport? Make a list of goals you want to meet with your carport. Carports generally provide some shelter from the elements, be it sun or snow. Are walls necessary to achieve the intended purposes ie. prevent snow drifts or prevent exposure to a setting sun? Are you expecting to store things in the carport. Will you need to include shelves or cabinets?

5. Enquire about Building permits and possible restrictions. Are you even allowed to build a carport on your property? Many neighborhoods have restrictions on the types of structures that are allowed to be built. There are costs associated with building permits and they may be prohibitive. There may also be lengthy waiting periods.

Plan carefully and do some research before building your carport. Sit down and share ideas with your spouse, a friend or a contractor. A lack of planning has thwarted the best of intentions. The most rewarding construction projects are those that are well planned. Build safely and good luck with building your carport. - 21392
