How to Handle a Car Breakdown

By Harry Johnson

Second only to life itself, owning a car to most people is essential. The freedom, adventure and satisfaction that is derived from owning a car is an indispensable part of their lives. That is, at least until they experience a car breakdown on the roadside. At time, it can possibly become their worst nightmare. Listed here are some things to know about car breakdowns.

It can be very stressful when this happens. You don't want to break down along with your car due to frustration. Just breathe and remain calm as everything will be okay. Call in for a tow truck or anyone whom may be able to give you a hand.

Those of you on the highway are more prone to breaking down. I'm sure you have already noticed a few of these lonely cars along your route from time to time. You may even spot some in close proximity to each other. What's the deal? Why does this happen so frequently?

As terrifying as this situation can be, car breakdowns are pretty commonplace for those who are frequent highway drivers. As you drive along most major highways, on the shoulders you will see many abandoned cars that have broken down, and often within close proximity to another. Yes, a car breakdown is fairly common, but why is that?

The regular, proper care is critical to a car's health. Consider your car like going to the doctor. What does the doctor do during a physical? He gives the body a look from head to toe, then checks the internals for any sign of damage. He can only calculate your health based on the things you have told him. The same goes for your car. You should keep up with all work performed on the car, inside and out. Take it into a shop every designated mileage run for maintenance checkup. Never go past two oil changes and always be sure there is oil in the vehicle.

Much the same as when people have medical check-ups, so a car owner should take their car to a mechanic for care. The medical doctor will check the individual's entire body internally as well as externally for any sign of malfunction. The doctor also counts on the individual to inform him of any problem they may experience with their body. This level of care should also be followed with the car. Keeping up with and recording all work performed on the car will help the mechanic to keep it running properly. Things like maintenance checkups at specified mileage readings, regular oil changes, and keeping the proper levels of fluids in the vehicle are vital to car care.

For your sake, put a bit more interest in the overall condition of your car. Keep up with the maintenance and you will be less likely to be the one stuck on the side of the road. With a little effort, you and your car can go far together! - 21392

DUI Lawyers in the USA

By Neal Spoton

Some states in the U.S. now have two statutory offenses relating to DUI charges. The first is the traditional offense, variously called driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), driving while intoxicated or impaired (DWI) or operating while intoxicated or impaired (OWI). The 2nd and more recent offence is the so-called illegal (per se) offense of driving with a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% (previously 0.10%) or higher (which remains the highest allowed level of blood-alcohol in the world). The first offense requires proof of "intoxication," although evidence of BAC is admissible in a court of law as "rebuttably presumptive evidence of that intoxication"; the second requires only proof of BAC at the time of being in physical control of a motor vehicle. An accused citizen may be convicted of both offenses, but may only be punished for one of the two.

It is also a criminal offense in all states to drive a vehicle while under the influence of drugs DUID, or under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs; the drugs themselves need not be illegal, but can be prescription or even over-the-counter. In some states, the effects of some herbal remedies (such as Kava Kava extract) fall into this category. This offense requires evidence of impairment as a result of the drugs or drugs and alcohol, although some states have passed laws making driving with the mere presence of certain drugs a criminal offense.

Some of the states in the United States also include a lesser charge of driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.05%; other states limit this offense to younger drivers, under the age of 21. All states also now have zero tolerance laws: the license of anyone under 21 driving with a BAC of .01% or higher (.02% in some states) will be suspended. The blood-alcohol limit for commercial drivers is 0.04%. Commercial drivers are also subject to stricter punishments for exceeding the blood-alcohol limit. Why, you ask? Why do you think??

Bus drivers may not drive less than 8 hrs. after consuming alcoholic beverages, while under the influence of alcohol or any "street" drug, or while showing a blood alcohol concentration equal to or greater than 0.04 grams per decilitre of blood.

The various versions of "driving under the influence" generally constitute a misdemeanor (punishable by up to one year in jail). However, the offense may be elevated to a felony (punishable by a longer term in state prison) if the incident caused serious injury (felony DUI), death (vehicular manslaughter or vehicular homicide), or extensive property damage (a state specified dollar amount) or if the defendant has a designated number of prior DUI convictions within a given time period (commonly, 3 prior convictions within 7 years). California, which is being followed by a growing number of states, now charges second-degree murder where the legal state of mind of malice exists"that is, where the defendant exhibited a reckless indifference to the lives of others. - 21392

Buying A Used Pocket Bike

By Sharon Lee

A great way for someone new to get into the sport of pocket bikes is by buying the first bike used. This saves from putting thousands upfront on something that you might wreck in two runs therefore allows for a learning bike while saving lots of money in the beginning.

If you are meticulously shopping around and researching your options, it will give you a much better idea about what pocket bikes are about. But just as buying used has its benefits, it is important to consider the risks when trying to get find a bargain.

The process is very similar to buying a used car but on a smaller scale. While you could save money by buying used instead of a brand new pocket bike, there are things about buying new you just can't get with a used bike.

A big difference between buying new versus used is the warranty. A new bike that breaks down suddenly is usually covered by the manufacturer's warranty for a decent period of time and allows the buyer to get a refund, exchange, or repairs.

Buying a used bike means, especially from a private owner, means no refunds or exchanges. If you are lucky and the bike is still under warranty, there is a chance the warranty is transferable to the new owner.

The problem is that most buyers don't adequately inspect the bike, or never learned how to inspect the bike. Savvy pocket bike owners know when they have a newbie on their hands and this leaves the buyer vulnerable to being sold something that is worth much less than what they are asked to pay. Nobody wants something that is in poor condition when they pay the price for a quality product.

The financial savings is still so huge, many people will take that risk. Besides, the risk really can be minimized with thorough research and inspection. Buying a used pocket bike can save as much as fifty to seventy-five percent compared to the cost of a brand new bike. A it makes sense because, like cars, depreciation begins right out of the box.

Another price advantage to really consider is that you can work the seller for a better deal. As long as the bike has little or no problems and you have your price limit, some small dealers or private owners might give you a really discounted deal so you end up with a great bike to play with while only paying a fraction of what a new pocket bike would have cost. - 21392
