Compare New York Car Insurance Quotes Today!

By Ricardo Liguriano

Has it been a while since you compared car insurance prices? Are you wondering if you could save on your premiums by making changes to your car insurance policy? The best way to get those questions answered is to check online resources and get a personalized quote. New York residents will find plenty of websites that provide New York car insurance quotes and helpful information on choosing a policy to suit their needs.

As with so many other important purchases we make in life, the cheapest option may not always be the best. The goal in shopping for a car insurance policy is to make sure you have the protection you need, at a competitive price.

Getting a quote online can also help you find out which discounts may be available to you: many companies offer discounts if you have been accident-free for a number of years, if you are a full-time student with a qualifying GPA, or if you have safety features installed on your car, such as airbags, anti-lock brakes, or daytime running lights.

It's important at this stage to give complete and accurate information to make sure that you get a realistic quote. New York car insurance quotes will generally be based on your age and marital status, the type of car you drive, your driving record, and your credit history. Crime statistics for your area will also be a major factor; New York City residents can expect to be quoted higher premiums than will people who live elsewhere in the state.

A popular way to lower your premiums is to choose a high deductible on Collision or Comprehensive coverage. If you drive an older car with a low book value, you may even choose to forgo Collision or Comprehensive completely, since this coverage is optional in New York State.

Buying other insurance -- such as homeowner's, renter's, boat, or ATV coverage -- from the same provider will usually result in discounts on both policies. Many factors come together in determining the final price of your policy, so depending on your situation you may be surprised at how reasonable your New York car insurance quotes turn out to be.

Car insurance today is a buyer's market; as you collect New York car insurance quotes you may find that you are eligible for a variety of discounts and promotional offers. Take the time to shop around -- you'll be surprised at how easy it is to save money on car insurance. - 21392

Should I Buy a Hybrid Car to Save on Gas?

By Colin Jones

When you pull up to the fuel pump and fill your car up with $10-$50 worth of gas, you may find yourself releasing a long drawn out sigh. How on Earth did petrol become so expensive? Should you check out one of those new hybrid cars you saw on the television? Everyone's talking about hybrid cars anyway. Hybrid cars and other types of cars may seem like a good idea, but before you go out and do something you'll regret, maybe you should ask yourself a few questions about how you can begin to save on petrol.

There are so many options now including everything from staying home to buying a hybrid car, but you have to find out what is right for you. You can only do that by asking yourself the following questions.

Maybe you should drive less mileage?

Sure, you could spend the rest of your life at home watching films, but how would you eat then? I know what you're thinking you will walk more and get more exercise. That may be true, but what happens when you get bored with walking and riding your bike? How are you going to be able to get to the gym? And, have you forgotten about work? You know you love listening to your books on tape while you sit in traffic at the end of the workday. Should you drive less? Perhaps not then. But what should you do? Well, have you ever considered buying a hybrid vehicle?

Should I buy a car that is more economical on gas?

Yes, you could do this, but what about when the vehicle starts to depreciate and it's not as fuel-efficient as you thought it would be? And subconsciously, because you know you have a car that gets more mileage out of fuel, you are going to start traveling more miles than you traveled before.

Should I get up earlier each morning to look for the cheapest gas prices in town?

Really, who has the time for all that? If you really think about it, you would probably spend your time better finding the right answer to the real question. Do you really want to spend extra time looking for a cheap fuel station? What would your boss think if you arrive late for work and tell him you were trying to save money on gas? And anyway, how long do you think you'll keep doing that?

Should I find a way to run my car on electric?

Well, let's see now, you certainly don't want to have to recharge your car's batteries every day before you go to work because that might make you late too. However, with a hybrid car, you wouldn't have to worry about that. Therefore, the next question should be quite obvious.

How about buying a hybrid car?

Maybe you should. It's possible that buying a hybrid car would be a sensible way to avoid high fuel prices. Does your car depreciate after you drive it off the forecourt? A hybrid won't do that so readily. It brings the buyer in more and more money as they save on gas. A hybrid car just might be a good choice here. However, it's still a good idea to conduct further research before buying a hybrid car. - 21392

How To Polish Your Car Paint Easily and Quickly - Spray Painting

By Mario Goldstein

It isn't the tools that are used in a job that make it good or bad, it's the person using those tools that makes the difference. In car polishing a good technician can make that finish look better than when you bought the car, and you wouldn't think twice about how they could do that. In this short article, I will go over some points that technicians know, or should know.

The main problems when it comes to auto finishing are things like paint runs, sags, dirt nibs and just plain old polishing in general. To start with, make sure that the finish is dry in accordance with the information from the product sheet as failure to do this could damage the finish, making the whole job very costly.

The proper way to polish when using a polish, make sure it is specifically or can be used for urethane finishes and not lacquer finishes. When sanding, make sure that you use the finer 1000grit paper, as course grit sandpaper can ruin a finish.

The polisher speed should be set at 1200 ? 1700 rpm?s to ensure the best result. It is also very important to make sure that you are using the right type of pad before you start. To know what the best pad types, always check the product data sheets and they?ll steer you in the right direction, remember, if in doubt, check the sheet.

On the blend edges when you are, polishing be sure to work away from the edge and never directly into it. The most recommended method for a blend edge is to hand glaze rather than machine polish. When you have to hand glaze, always a cloth that is not rough and make sure it is clean forboth the application and when taking the glaze off.

Getting Rid Of Imperfections As with polishing, always check with the right manufacturers product data sheet before sanding, or polishing, this will give you the recommended dry times before polishing. Always make sure that before you begin any work on the surface that you take off debris and material. If this isn?t done, the results will be costly and catastrophic.

It is so important that the proper prep work be done so that the surface is: Free of imperfections like dirt nibs. You can use 1500 or better grit for wet sanding to get rid of these. To make sure there are no more imperfections on the surface, sand the surface with a block sander, not necessarily the entire surface, spot sanding will do.

The Last Step Use the polisher lightly to eliminate sand scratches using the right liquid polish. When using the polisher, set it to 1200 ? 1700 rpm and use a wool pad first. Next, you will need to use a foam pad. Finally, you need a non- abrasive glaze. Always remember that if you are in doubt about what to use or how to do it, consult the manufacturer?s list of instruction and information data sheet .Don?t be in a hurry, if you take your time you won?t make the mistakes that you will only regret. - 21392

Is There An Easy Way To Remove Egg Stains From Car Paint?

By Mario Goldstein

Vandalism of property is a costly endeavor not only for the recipient in damage repairs but also for the one being so destructive when they land in jail. Throwing eggs at cars may seem like a harmless prank. In fact, though it is not harmless as it leaves stains on some car paint finishes. If there is a great deal of staining it could mean having to the have, the car repainted. Now that harmless prank has turned into hundreds of dollars worth of damage.

There are some individuals that have said that Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion rubbed into the egg stain and left for five minutes then removed works well. I haven?t seen this in action so it?s hard to say how valid it is.

There are two solutions you may want to try before taking it to the auto repair shop.

Method One

Step One Most often what happens is if the egg happens to hit the car the wrong way if will chip the paint. So first, you need to assess the damage very carefully. If the paint is not chipped you can try this method, otherwise you need to go to method 2.

Step Two Purchase some very high grit sandpaper and soak a strip of it in water overnight. The paper must be saturated with water.

Step Three Sand very lightly the stained area with the sandpaper you had soaking in water overnight. Do not apply too much pressure and make sure you keep the sandpaper wet.

Step Four Rinse the area well and dry it. You now need to use a rotary polisher. This should remove any marks that the sanding may have made. The technique you have utilized here is a smooth service that has had a clear coat melted into it.

Step Five Now you are going to want to eliminate the swirl marks and you do this by applying a pure polish and buffing it in.

If the egg stain mark is not gone then you will have to resort to step two.

Method Two Fold an extra strength paper towel into a square and place it over the egg stain. Then spray the paper towel with brake cleaner being sure to keep it confined to the area of the stain. The brake fluid may removed some of the car paint so be absolutely sure not to get it anywhere except on the stain itself.

If the car is badly chipped you will need to sand it down, and then touch it up with some car paint.

Removing permanent stains from cars can be very difficult. In order not to end up having to do a full paint job you would be much further ahead to take it into a paint repair shop and have it professionally done. All too often do it yourselfers have ended up costing themselves a great deal of money thinking they could repair a problem themselves.

Ideally if there is vandalism in your area you would be wise to keep your vehicle in a shelter location if possible. - 21392

Hydrogen For Cars - Future Fuel For Cars ?

By Adrian Fletcher

As gas prices continue to rise with seemingly no end in sight, energy experts, energy commissions and the people on the street are all looking at every potential alternatives to reliance on gas. One particularly promising option is hydrogen fuel cells. Hydrogen car fuel is not just a subject for exploring new energy horizons it opens up new possibilities in our mode of travel.

Research into hydrogen fuel is quickly proving it's potential as a leading resource to replace fossil fuels. It is a naturally occurring element that is found in many things including water to many products you will find in your garden. Its abundance in nature means it has a great potential and is seen as a valuable resource that can be tapped into to meet the growing demand for a cheap, clean and reliable source of energy.

The methods for the production of hydrogen for cars vary greatly, but all are more efficient and cleaner than fossil fuel production. For example a refinery for gasoline production that would require three hundred billion gallons of water to produce gasoline, would be require one million gallons of water if it were producing the same amount of hydrogen.

The gallon of gasoline equivalent to hydrogen costs about half as much as gasoline but improves fuel economy by over two-thirds more. Hydrogen fuel also decreases engine operating temperatures, all but eliminating emissions as well as the unwanted carbon footprint.

Availability of hydrogen for cars is currently a big drawback for production of hydrogen- fueled vehicles. The possibilities of home hydrogen fueling stations is a reality but at the time of the writing of this article, not an affordable one for every home.

If cars were to run exclusively on electricity generated on board from hydrogen fuel a new paradigm in vehicle design would emerge. The equipment needed to propel a car would be much more basic, and smaller doing away with many design limitations. Some of these limitations include having to design around a heat-producing engine, and bulky floorboard configurations that currently are required for driveline equipment.

Clean, cost effective and environmentally safe, hydrogen is the fuel of our future. As hydrogen production increases and becomes more available, fueling stations will open and we will reap the savings and environmental benefits of using hydrogen for cars. So, as the gas prices see little chance of going back to old lows, the advancement of hydrogen fuel technology will continue apace as more money is put into research and development by governments and corporations alike. - 21392
