Changing Your Auto Insurance Policy

By Marty Allen

Drivers may want to terminate their car insurance for various different reasons. Relocating or moving to a new state might be one reason. Getting rid of a car might be another. Sometimes it's just a case of finding better coverage or lower premiums. Regardless of the reasons, it's important to follow some basic guidelines and do it properly.

The "Standard Operating Procedure" for most insurer's is that you can cancel your policy simply by sending written notice with your desired termination date. Keep in mind that your policy may not necessarily stop at the end of your term, it may have an auto-renew clause. You also shouldn't assume that your policy gets canceled by simply not paying your next premium.

You should also check your policy carefully, as it may not be entirely clear. Insurance companies will generally be very quick to tell you that your coverage stops at the end of the policy period if you don't pay your premium, but they may not be so quick to let you know of the penalties you can incur for not providing formal notice of your policy termination.

You should also keep in mind is that your chances of obtaining auto coverage in the future may be impacted is your car insurance policy is canceled. A policy cancellation in your insurance history may end up getting you labeled as a high-risk applicant. Usually though you can avoid this trap by officially terminating your policy properly and in a timely manner.

If you're planning to switch coverage to a different insurer, and you want to continue to drive your car throughout the process, you'll have to make sure you don't allow a lapse in your car insurance coverage. Be careful to coordinate your new policy's start date on or before the termination date of your old policy.

If you go to the trouble and make the effort to notify your old insurance company when you want to cancel your auto policy, and follow their stated termination process, you won't have to worry about any potential negative repercussions. - 21392

Try Camping In An RV This Year

By Bob Baxter

Looking back in history we see that RV camping has been something enjoyed by many people for a great many years. It is a great way for a family to spend some great quality time together having fun. The memories and stories of these camping trips will be told for years to come.

Many think that the Pioneers could be considered one of the first RVers around. I am not sure how much of this can be agreed with as they had no choice at the time. They were looking for a place to settle and make home after all. I am sure there were enjoyable times, but this was not an optional thing for them like it is for us.

Families are being found in campgrounds more often these days. Many times there are large family groups that are RV camping together in a kind of reunion sort of way. This is a great thing to see as the togetherness of families seems to get left behind over the course of time.

There are so many types of RV's available that a person can have no trouble at all finding one that will suit their family as well as their budget. Being able to find something affordable is so important during the tough economic times that we are in. This can be one of the least expensive ways that a family can enjoy a vacation for a reasonable price.

Other than the actual investment of the trailer the costs can vary from campsite to campsite. There are tons of campgrounds around to choose from though. It all depends on what you are wanting from the campsite on what the cost will be. Hydro sites tend to cost more, but if you look around they too can be found at reasonable rates.

There are still a lot of people that want to camp the old way. They don't need to have the hydro and things like that to be able to have a good time. They like being able to get back to the way things were many years ago when hydro was not even an option. Fishing and open fire cooking was always a enjoyable thing for these type of people.

There are campsites all over the US and Canada that are beautiful and offer a lot of great things for families to enjoy. There are playgrounds and beaches, boats that can be rented for fishing or just a tour of the lake, the things that are available at many of them are extensive. There is sure to be a site around that will cover all the things you want from a campground. Many even offer special events on holidays as well.

You can find all the information about many campsites on the internet. This can help make your RV camping experience unforgettable. You can see what options they offer and often they have scenic pictures that show what it actually looks like. After making a decision you can book your trip online very easily. - 21392

New or Used Cars: 5 Purchase Choices

By Ethan Melandri

After you complete research and you know what type of vehicle you would like to buy, and you have your finances prepared and the budget set, you still have one question that remains. This question is where to purchase the new or used car you are interested in. There are many ways you can purchase a vehicle, so you need to know what option and place will work best for you.

Main or Independent Dealers

When you are interested in a new or low mileage vehicle your best bet is to go to a main dealer for the buy. A main dealer tends to provide great service and understand your consumer rights. This means you get a vehicle that is in good shape, while you also are protected if something goes wrong. The downside is a dealer tends to be more expensive.

Independent dealers work well for older cars. You do need to realise that quality and customer service can vary with these dealers. Also be careful to check the warranty for what it covers.

Classifieds for Private Sales

Going through the private classifieds is a good way to get a great deal on a vehicle. Unfortunately you do have to look out for the untrue seller who can be hiding in the pages, as well as traders trying to be private sellers.

When purchasing in a private sale you do not have as many consumer rights. For this reason you need to keep the advertisement as evidence in case the vehicle has issues. You will also want to check the address on the V5 is the same as the seller address in case something does go wrong.

Supermarkets for Automobiles

Supermarkets in which cars are sold are becoming more popular thus there are numerous places to go, probably close to your location. The prices at these places tend to be less, thus negotiation is unneeded. However, you get a lower trade in value for the car you currently have.

Since there is a lot of choice at these big markets you may find several models of the vehicle you are looking for, and they may have upgrades like xenon headlamps, alloy wheels, and air conditioning.

Auctions for Cars

Auctions that sell cars have changed over the years to be better places to find a low mileage car. These vehicles are now offered with guarantees in case mechanical issues arise. Still, when buying from an auction consumer rights are less and while you can find a deal you need to check the vehicle for any issues before placing a bid.

The Internet

Many dealers have their own internet sites so that you can check the specification and pictures of the vehicle before setting off to see it. However the growth of internet auction sites like Ebay mean you can now buy a vehicle without first viewing it.

If you decide to go with Ebay you will want to check out the seller feedback. Stay away from few or poor ratings, and go for someone with a higher rating. If your bid is the winner you are obligated to purchase the vehicle, as long as the advertising was truthful. - 21392

How To Buy Cheap Cars

By Lyn Henderson

There is a lot more money that is put into a car than just the original purchase price. To buy cheap cars is not just original purchase price. There are several things to consider when buying a car. Many car dealers will not disclose to you what is important when determining the actual cost of ownership.

Although Toyotas' and Hondas' are more expensive to purchase upfront the cost of ownership is much less. These types of cars require less maintenance. These types of cars rarely breakdown and are very cheap to own.

There are other fees associated with buying a car. If you are buying a car from a dealer make sure that you understand the fees. There are additional fees including dealer doc prep, taxes, title and licensing. Before you buy the car call your local government agency and make sure you know the actual costs of these fees.

Check your local bank or credit unions rates before you talk to a dealer. Take a print out of the current rates so you have written proof of current rates. Dealers will get a kick-back from the lenders by increasing the interest rates.

Dealers pay about average trade for their vehicles. The condition of the actual car and the title will determine the dealer value. If the car has very little reconditioning the car will yield more money at the auction.

Make sure you look at the depreciation of the vehicle. If a car depreciates rapidly it is not a good buy. The older the vehicle the less it will depreciate. Toyotas and Hondas depreciate very slowly but Kia and some American made brands have very fast depreciation. - 21392

Hydrogen Gas In Cars Is On the Horizon

By Adrian Fletcher

Your vehicle is probably running on ethanol-enhanced gasoline as this is currently the cheapest fuel you will find at the gas station. Ethanol has been touted as the answer to reducing Americas dependence on foreign oil supplies as well as reduction in greenhouse gas emission levels. People are beginning to question this proposition as producing swathes of crops is possibly as inefficient as the fuel it produces. Ethanol is a fuel that cars have been using to run without optimization for a long time, so obviously its not the right choice. A new contender for better fuel economy is using hydrogen gas in cars.

Using hydrogen gas in cars gives numerous more advantages over ethanol and gasoline fuels. Hydrogen gas is a better and cleaner burning fuel leaving no carbon behind but emits only water vapor consisting mainly of majority of nitrogen. Nitrogen makes up more than three-quarters of the air we inhale. Hydrogen fuel roughly gives two-thirds better fuel economy at half the cost of gasoline.

There appears to be two major concerns involved in converting to hydrogen gas cars. The first is distance from a hydrogen gas generation facility which may be the most difficult to overcome. Creating the infrastructure, a kin to all the gas stations that you see on every other corner of a street is a massive undertaking. Without available refueling stations, you will have problems finding the hydrogen fuel for your vehicle. The second issue revolves around designing a viable on-board fuel generation system to continuously power the vehicle.

The process of producing great quantities of hydrogen fuel on board a vehicle to burn instead of gasoline still faces technological limitations, compromising widespread use of this technology on the road. A few automobile manufacturers planning to manufacture fully hydrogen-powered vehicles are also planning to produce home hydrogen gas fueling stations. This will not only allow you to fuel your car but also generate power for your dwelling, giving you a big cost reduction in energy expenditure and help in environmental protection.

A few viable alternatives exist for converting your gas-powered car into a hydrogen fuel hybrid which will let you benefit from both increases in fuel economy and a big reduction in the car's emissions. There are kits for sale that output a small amount of hydrogen fuel. They do this by using a supply of water and the electricity from your car to produce hydrogen and mixing that with the existing gas that is already powering the car. Such kits can be simple models that can be purchased for a few hundred dollars, or specialty deluxe models that will set you back thousands.

When hydrogen fuel production begins on mega scale and will be easily available in big volume, we will definitely begin to see new inventions when we start using hydrogen gas in cars. Indeed, BMW are publicizing their work on a hydrogen fuel car but it is only a one off prototype without any commercial potential to date. Before that date when this becomes commercially viable arrives, home-made kits that use readily available parts and plain water can help the mechanically-inclined to get a long up on the technology. Instructions for creating your own water to gas kits are found on the internet through sites such as Water4gas.

Hydrogen gas technology has been a focus of governments, energy companies, auto manufacturers and backyard mechanics alike, when all these groups get their findings out there it is going to allow for great leaps in hydrogen technology. - 21392
