High-Performance Car Insurance - Getting Rid of It

By Andy Darwinson

High-performance or not, the reasons you'd like to cancel insurance would fall along familiar lines. How to do it right remains the basic question those pondering a cancellation should do. If you don't bother to do it by the book, cancelling your high-performance car insurance poses a potentially more damaging - financially or otherwise - repercussions.

You might be planning to move, or you might be unhappy with your current coverage. No matter why you are choosing to cancel, your decision could have serious repercussions if you do not proceed properly. Make sure this doesn't happen to you by following proper procedure!

First of all, it is best to issue a formal notice. Your policy may say that you don't have to, but giving written notice of your intent to cancel is always recommended and advantageous. You need to tell them that you are canceling and what date you would like to cancel. Most policies permit a person to cancel whenever they want so long as they've given notice. One thing to remember though is that your policy might still be in effect at the end of the term.

There are a lot of people that wrongly believe their policy will end after the term, though if you don't inform the insurer of your intent to cancel they may just keep billing you. Or they might do as they promised and cancel your policy when you fail to pay, though it will be a negative mark against you if you fail to inform them.

Never assume that your cancellation will take place automatically. Insurance companies might be quick to tell you about the possibly cancellation of your high-performance car insurance if you don't pay, but they definitely don't tell you about the fallout of these actions. Always make sure you're prepared, and always be safe rather than sorry. Make sure that you send in the notice!

A cancellation may also raise the red flag when your application is received by other companies. They might label you a high-risk credit to justify charging you higher premiums. So take cancellation notices seriously and do it within the specified timeframe to avoid these glitches in the future.

Switching Car Insurance Providers

If you are keeping and driving the same vehicle but switching high-performance car insurance providers, make sure your cancellation date coincides with the effective date (start date) of your new policy. You don't want to be caught in an accident when you're uninsured, would you? That would just go down in history as the most stupid thing any responsible adult could do.

Getting rid of your high-performance car insurance may just be something that you have to do. You will need to find several reason to get rid of your policy, just remember to avoid having a negative mark on your credit. Make sure your insurance company knows of your plans to terminate. This is how you will keep from causing yourself serious trouble in the long run. - 21392

Which Luxury Convertible To Go For?

By Danny Green

Cars have emerged to be the most used vehicle for commuting, and have become an essential part of our daily lives, as it helps us to do our daily chores. There are various kinds of luxury cars now, but the most favoured ones are the luxury convertibles, as they have grace, and balance, the elegance, and the performance, giving an exhilarating ride. Luxury convertibles are expensive yet very popular because of various reasons.

Different kinds of convertible cars can be found out in the market. Each car has a differentiating edge, that is has a different feature than the rest. Getting a car only for the sake of buying will not make our decision process easier. The best-suited car for someone is the one according to his/her personal lifestyle. Let us give you an overview of the best four convertibles of 2009, making it easy to make your choice.

The BMW 3 Series Convertible car has all the luxuries, and comfort of any convertible. It is a four-seat car, which gives you a sports-car performance. Of course, the reliability is the main feature of the car. The estimated cost ranges from $44,550 to $50,700. The car is an ultimate balance of luxury, comfort, quality, and performance. The two most interesting features are a usable backseat, and an automatic retractable hardtop.

The testers find BMW 3 backseat, and the trunk cramped. However, it is normal for convertible cars. The only obstacle buying this convertible is its price. Two seat Porsche Boxster is known to be more comfortable than BMW 3 available in same pricing. Spunky four-seat Mini Cooper of BMW is also another car one can opt for, saving $20,000, and having the same luxury experience. You can also go for two-seat Mazda MX-5 Miata, and enjoy the fun of riding the best convertible at a low price.

Testers say that the best roadster is the Porsche Boxter 2009, housing every feature a luxury convertible should have. It is comfortable, accurate brakes, handles, and best steers, balances beauty, and performance.

According to the drivers, and auto critics, it is rated amongst the finest cars of the world, and you can have from $46,600 to $56,700. It has lightweight glass window, and power soft-top along with the retractable hardtop. It can accommodate four passenger juts like the BMW 3.

The 2009 Mini Cooper convertible is a fun-to-drive vehicle with seating capacity of four, and having reasonable price starting from $23,900 to $34,300. The car has so many great features that it is hard to beat. Mini Cooper is a British styling sporty performance car with economy-car gas mileage. As in any other car, there are some drawbacks, and for Mini Cooper, these are; tiny backseats, and stiff ride experience. Retractable hardtop is not the feature of this car, and that drops its rating comparing Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Mazda MX-5 2009 provides the most entertainment per dollar, ranging from $21,750 to $29,290. It has all the features of a luxury convertible like fuel efficiency, consistency, accuracy, and comfort of soft-top, or hardtop retractable roof. - 21392

Porsche 977 Carrera Sports Car

By Colin Jones

A new Porsche 911 is always intriguing because it's exciting to see how after more than 40 years of improvement the Porsche team still manages to bring changes and advancements to this iconic model.

The new 997 combines the silky contemporary appearance of the 996 series with the popular retro styling of the older 911's. The front end is completed with round lights and separate parking/fog/indicator lights. This modification, combined with wider hips resembles the last of the air-cooled 911's, the 993. Other changes in the body shell are the new door handles, wing mirrors and the trendy cut of the rear wings into the bumper/lights.

Even if the 997 looks a great deal like the previous model, the 996, the new car is in point of fact 38mm wider which makes for a more forceful appearance. With each new model introduced, Porsche has aimed to reduce the drag co-efficient helping the 911 glide through the air more effectively thereby aiding performance. The same thing has been done with the new car, and if we compare the 993 Cd of 0.34 to the 997`s 0.28, we can see how far the aerodynamic game has moved on. The latest body shell and rear wing combine with new under body paneling to also offer improved levels of down force for this latest generation of Porsche's best.

The latest Porsche model has the best handling 911 ever. Improving a car's firmness helps ensure that the suspension can work more effectively and although not making such a quantum leap as the team did with the 996, Porsche enhanced torsional rigidity by 8% and added as much as 40% more strength.

For their new model car, Porsche sought to enhance crash safety provisions so they added two new air bags, which are situated in the side of each front seat back-rest and are calculated to protect the thorax. They also kept the previous two front and two side airbags, which means that now there are six air bags in total. For the same reason, that is crash safety, the reinforced body shell boasts further protection such as a more extensive use of super high strength steel.

The most recent model is also 50 kg heavier than the 996. The reason is that modern crash safety regulations sort of force vehicle makers to produce new cars of increased weight, despite the prevalent use of a large range of weight saving measures, such as an aluminum bonnet.

Aside from the crash safety advancements, much of the additional weight can be attributed to the higher standard specifications of the new cars. The power to weight ratio is analogous with the latest car offering 233 bhp per tonne against it's predecessors 238 but the new model's superior aerodynamics must help it achieve Porsche's claimed performance figures, which are identical to those of the 996. - 21392

Cycling Safety - No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service

By Dorthy Weatherbush

We have all experienced a time when a motorcyclist driving on the road has done some pretty dangerous and heart stopping antics. There are motorcyclists that weave in and out of traffic as if there were no lanes on the freeways at all. Some cyclists don't even wear protective gear such as helmets to protect them from harm. Others just drive too fast. Nevertheless, motorcycling can be extremely dangerous.

If you have your heart set on riding a motorcycle, you must wear the right safety gear. Safety gear, may not look as cool as riding free, but it also doesn't look to cool when you've been in a serious accident and have body parts that are literally hanging off of you either. Safety should be your first priority. Helmets, thick pants, boots and gloves will help keep a bad accident from becoming a horrific accident and can also keep any accident from becoming fatal.

There isn't a reason that can be found that would justify any person not protecting himself when riding a motorcycle. Moreover, though protection includes driving safely. Motorcycle driving safety is not only important for the driver, but for other people on the roadways. Motorcyclists often forget that there are other people on the roads that they endanger when they drive recklessly. There are often accidents that occur between other drivers but caused by a motorcyclist who is driving recklessly. When people are trying not to hit the cyclist, they end up hitting other cars instead.

Then when an accident occurs, it gets bad for everybody. The ensuing traffic pileup occurs. Insurance premiums are raised - and insurance for motorcyclists is already very high. Injuries and even fatalities can occur and much more. It all can be avoided too if only the right kind of equipment was worn.

The honest truth is that you will not be able to control your own safety entirely. There are some things that are just out of everyone's hands that even the most experienced and safest rider would not be able to avoid. The weather, the condition of the roadways, as well as the situation involving another driver, are all things that are out of the hands of the cyclist.

Taking all of that into consideration, you should as a biker take every opportunity to protect yourself. There is no way to take all of the risk out of anything, let alone driving a motorcycle. However, by protecting yourself and taking all the necessary precautions, you not only decrease the chances of a bad occurrence for yourself, but for other people as well. - 21392

New Car Options: Which Ones To Avoid

By Eric Driver

With the prices of many new automobiles climbing towards $60,000, it's often easy to justify adding a few options. After all, what's another $250 or $400 when compared to $60,000? The truth is, dealerships make a bundle from these add-ons. That's why they push them on unwary buyers. What's more, you can often purchase higher quality alternatives from a private retailer. For example, the "top of the line" alarm system that costs $750 as a dealer add-on may be priced at $400 elsewhere - and it will likely be designed with better quality.

It's important that you buy the car you truly want and need, not the package that adds the most padding to the dealership's bottom line. In this article, we'll explore some of the automotive options that you'll be tempted to buy when negotiating the final price of a new vehicle.

Extended Warranty Coverage

Because automobiles are designed to last longer, automakers are offering longer warranties to entice potential customers. These warranties typically cover the powertrain, engine, and other major components. Because they offer longer coverage, there's less need to buy an extended warranty. That doesn't dissuade the dealers from trying to sell them, though. If you truly want extended coverage, wait until your normal coverage expires. Then, buy an extended policy from an independent source.

Rustproofing Solution

Rust is a problem for cars. Once it sets in, it can spread quickly and affect the integrity of the body. Having said that, there is rarely a reason to invest in this option. Not only does it cost several hundreds of dollars, but your warranty should already offer coverage for rust damage. If the salesperson says it has already been sprayed on the car (a sales tactic to encourage you to accept it), consider it a gift.

Disc Changer

Automotive stereo systems can house up to a dozen CDs. If you'd like more flexibility, you'll need to have a disc changer installed. The dealership will try to sell you a changer, but like most options, it will cost more than the amount you would otherwise spend with an aftermarket retailer. Plus, the dealer will want to install a specific brand in your vehicle - it won't necessarily be the highest-quality brand available. Plus, given the rise of iPod connectivity in vehicles, you may want to avoid disc changers altogether.

Car Alarm

This option was mentioned above, but it's worth highlighting. The dealer will mention that your auto insurance rates will decline if you have an alarm installed. This is true. They'll also mention that it's more convenient to have them install it rather than having to take your vehicle to a car alarm shop. This, too, is true. What they are less likely to mention is that the quality of the alarm will be lower than what is available from an aftermarket retailer. What's more, the price will be substantially higher.

Some car options, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-change warning systems, and night vision, are valuable. Others offer questionable value given their respective prices. Shop for the vehicle you want and need. Leave everything else on the dealership lot. - 21392
