Car Detailing What You Need to Know

By Luke Lister

At its basic level, car detailing makes a used vehicle look brand new. Yet there's a lot more that goes into it than just making the car look better. Some people have actually made an art form out of the improvements they make. A good detailer can do many things and get much admiration for work improving the appearance and value of a car.

If you have a car, you'll want to consider detailing more often than you realize, and there should be no question when you're trying to sell that car. Your car can run perfectly, but if it doesn't have looks to match, you'll still only get bad offers. Whatever you have to pay for the detailing will be easily surmounted by how much more money you make.

Before you do anything, you need to know your car. You should also become familiar with what will happen at the detailing location. The focus will be on three different areas - the exterior, the tires, and the interior. The first of these is the most obvious as it sets your car apart from a long way off. A good spray painting job can make or break your potential at a single glance.

Next comes the wheel and tire evaluation. Wheels often get black stains caused by tar from brake dust as cars get older. It's best to wash the wheels over time, as there will be a lot more work involved later on if you don't. Regardless, it's a necessary step to be sure everything is done on the outside of the car before you move on to looking at the car's interior.

The interior of your car reflects how much the car has been used and taken care of. Detailing here helps take away general wear and tear. To potential buyers, it will seem as though the car was hardly ever touched and is a prized piece for collection. Once you know about all three areas, there are a few other points to remember before you start.

Car detailing should typically be done in a garage or a similar area that will keep the vehicle cool and dry, away from the heat and moisture that can damage paint and wax. For your own part, you shouldn't leave your car standing in the sun if possible and should only wash it when you definitely have to, and then moving from top to bottom.

If you're doing your own auto detailing and you've just gotten off the road, let the car sit for at least 20 minutes before trying to eliminate excess wax, and begin. You should also not wash a car that's just pulled off the road, and avoid using cold water on hot parts of the car such as the engine. This can cause a lot of damage to these areas and your work.

It takes time and effort to make a car look good again, and you'll have to remain dedicated to the work. However, if you do, you can return any car to its original luster. - 21392

Good Awesome Credit is Key

By John Slidenger

Great credit is key to getting good loans. In this market where lending is tight and money isn't freely flowing, the only way to get someone to lend you money is with good credit. Here are a few ways to achieve this.

Credit monitoring services like ones from myFICO is very good because it automatically keeps track of your credit report and alerts you whenever there are any changes. You can of course choose to do it yourself but that's 1000x harder.

The government has made it law that the credit report agencies need to give you a free report every few months. This not only allows you to stay on top of everything within your credit report but also give you a chance to dispute any changes to it in a timely manner. Just make sure you request it because it won't be automatically sent to you.

Lenders will just pull your report when you request a loan, so if you are maxed out on your credit, they see it as a no-no. It doesn't really matter if you pay off your credit cards every month because the utilization rate will be very high.

Don't always try to apply for credit cards. Every time you apply for these cards, the companies will pull your credit report and that puts a mark on your credit. If there are many of these pulls in quick succession, the credit score will suffer because it is believed that only people who really need money will apply for so many lines of credit at the same time.

Inactive cards will eventually be flagged by the credit card companies and be canceled. The credit report will just say canceled by card company without any explanation so use all your cards in regular intervals.

Remember to apply for a few credit cards and have some lines of credit available even if you don't need it. I used to only have one card and one day I was denied for my business credit card because they told me I only have 1 credit card and haven't shown that I can pay off debt, even though I have tons of cash in my bank account.

Having multiple types of debt (car, mortgage, credit card, student loans) among others is good because it shows that you are able to handle bills that come due every month. It also works the same as having multiple credit cards. - 21392

3 American Classic Cars That Won't Go Away: Mustang, Corvette, And Cadillac

By Catherine Perry

When a person is trying to find a really great car, many of them choose the Cadillac - almost any model of that car is popular - the Corvette, or the Mustang because they see them as great options for cars today. They've been popular for years and years, even as they've gone through changes, and no matter what kind of car a person likes these three models will generally have something to offer. Through the years these particular cars have remained at the forefront of automotive engineering and enjoyment and it doesn't look like that will change any time soon, although not everyone sees how important these specific cars are.

There is a lot of prestige when it comes to owning a Cadillac, and business owners and others who feel as though they have 'made it' often buy them. Cadillacs are beautiful and popular, and they are often used for limousine production, as well, because the Cadillac name has a particular standard attached to it. The standard that most people think of with this car is not only quality but also luxury, and those people who have achieved some degree of success often want to show that to the world by purchasing a Cadillac.

Cadillac doesn't only make big, luxury cars, though, because they have some smaller, sportier choices - and they even made a standard four-door car with a manual transmission called the 'Cimarron' many years ago. Now the Cadillac brand has come very far, and the company is making SUVs and sportier models as well as what most people think of as the 'standard' Cadillac, and even the company's bigger, four-door luxury models have been redesigned. This has prompted some people who remember the Cadillacs of old to be upset by the way that they look now, because 'they don't look like Cadillacs anymore,' but most people love the redesigned and sleeker, more modern look.

Not everyone wants a Cadillac, though, and if it's not the car for you, it might be better to look for something sportier such as a Corvette or a Mustang if you're looking for an unforgettable car. For years, the Ford lineup has included the Mustang, and over the years the company has clearly been interested in improving that car to give its customers everything that they want and need in the cars that they purchase. Once Chevy discontinued its Camaro the Mustang became basically the only affordable sports car out there, because all of the other options available to the public cost quite a bit more, so Ford had the chance to completely entrench the Mustang into driving society even more than had already been done - and the company took advantage of that.

People who like two-seater cars and have a little bit more money to spend might find themselves looking for a Corvette so that they can get the horsepower and the speed and handling that they want. Just like the Mustang, the Corvette doesn't look the same as it did years ago, but it hasn't forgotten what it used to look like and where it came from, either. The stylish, sleek, and sophisticated exterior of the Corvette has stayed, and the car has gotten great features to make it more safe, more comfortable, and better handling, among other improvements.

There are so many cars out there that have a lot going for them, and the Mustang, the Corvette, and most of the Cadillac models that are out there today are clearly among that group so people can get what they need in transportation, whether that's an SUV, a sports car, or anything in between. These three cars won't be fading away like some of those that have gone away in the past because they couldn't keep up with changing consumer trends. The past incarnations of these cars are remembered fondly and the current ones are well-liked.

When companies know that they are able to make cars that the public really loves, they work hard to continue to do that and the Mustang, Cadillac, and Corvette all seem to be the kinds of cars that everyone wants and that hold the attention of car buyers. Any good car maker knows how important it is to keep people who like their cars interested in what they have to offer and to get new car buyers to take a look at what they have to offer, and that's done through being innovative. Cars stay popular when they can keep people's attention and continue to evolve. - 21392

The Honda Valkyrie Rune: A rare and almost unique used motorcycle.

By John Vincent

I've just seen what may possibly be the most individual, and maybe a little scary, motorcycle ever built. And it's a Honda! The Valkyrie Rune looks like something that leapt out of the pages of a 1980's sci-fi comic. Or a Sylvester Stallone film based on it. Wide tyres, wide tank, wide bars, wide everything! It's a beast which begs you to break the law. So it can judge you.

This bike doesn't try and steal your admiration. It forces you to pay attention. The chrome leaps off almost 50% of the surface of the machine and most of that is engine! Even Harley's don't have this much chrome. Nor do they have so much elegance either.

Let's be direct about this. This bike is insane. In fact I'm not so sure it's a bike at all. It's just a huge 1800cc flat 6 engine crafted into a solid 50's, retro styled frame. And I *mean* solid! The whole bike weighs in at 350kg but you really would never know it. All the weight is so well balanced and so low in the frame that when you sit on this colossus she feel more like a racehorse.

The engine purrs and then kicks like a donkey. Turn into a bend and she digs and growls, shooting out of the apex and leaping down the road for more. I'm not saying she's a road racer you understand, but this is a cruiser through and through. The engine is so smooth and the saddle so comfortable you could stay sitting on this dream of a bike for hour after hour. And enjoy every minute.

So why doesn't everyone have one then? Because Honda designed and built them for Americans, who as we know only ride Harleys (or mopeds), and didn't think there was market for them in the UK or Europe. So we have to either import one by ourselves - if we can find one - or hope that they come up for sale and then catch them before they are gone again.

However sometimes, only sometimes, one of the few of these bikes which were privately imported come up for sale. In fact, right at this very minute, one is sitting in a used motorcycle showroom in Leicester. Sitting and waiting for her next gleeful owner to arrive, to drool and to buy.

Actually seeing a Honda Rune in reality was what shocked me into writing this mini review. I have honestly never seen anything like it in my life. You really wouldn't be surprised to see a blaster-touting Dredd come walking by and fly off on her at any moment believe me.

There you go then. I'm presenting you with a once in a lifetime opportunity here. Go take a trip to Leicester and have a look at a Honda Rune and see what I mean. And then if you have thirteen grand ready to spend I wouldn't think you mad if you did. I certainly would if I had it. - 21392
