Mobile Car Grooming - An Emerging Trend That Saves Your Weekends

By Edward Adams

Have you ever felt the anguish of losing your quality time on holidays over jobs as mundane as getting your car washed and repaired in a garage? If you have, then do not be disheartened, because this anguish is shared by many others. You get up on a Sunday with the grim realization that taking your car to the garage is more urgent than enjoying the day with your family. Mobile car grooming, which is an upcoming car service concept, may help you out in this regard.

Only about fifteen years old, the concept of mobile car grooming service was not received favourably when it was first launched. However, the service has been received well by car owners everywhere and is gaining popularity by the day.

Mobile car grooming involves giving at home car washing and cleaning service on demand. The service provider, on receiving a call for help from your end, will ask about your car make and send specialists at your home loaded with all the stuff needed to clean or repair your car.

Even if your car suffers from a snag on a deserted highway, a few of these service providers give on-site repair services to take care of the issue. Emergency on-the-road service will cost you extra, but is of great utility because you are rescued from the worst possible scenario that a car owner can imagine.

A complete car grooming and maintenance package is what you can expect from such service providers, which includes interior cleaning, engine maintenance and painting and waxing, while you enjoy the weekend in your home. In this age of hurry and anxiety, services like mobile car grooming come as a beacon of hope for stressed-out car owners. It is both a time and energy saving alternative for the car owner and is also great for the car as a thorough servicing is assured. - 21392

Different Types Of Automotive Tires: Treading Safe

By Ulysses Winermann

Before you start picking tires for your car, it is best to know what is out there in the market. Things have changed drastically since the old times when tires were no more than metal rings around wooden wheels to absorb shock. It is necessary to know how different automotive tires affect your driving experience and the right tires can make sure you drive safer. Here are some tips and tire types that should help you make a decision easier. There are many types of automotive tires that you should know about, each good for different situations and vehicles.

All season tires: These tires are made to last and provide great all round traction. The tread patterns on them are complicated and grooved. This design makes sure the tires perform well even in light snow conditions. Made for everyday use, these are a good choice if you use your car a lot and if the tires are not exposed to extreme temperatures.

Summer tires: In places where the sun shines bright for most of the year, and there isn't any snow in the winter; summer tires are a good option. Block-shaped grooves ensure maximum contact and good break control for both dry and wet road. Although these tires can be used in light snowfall, heavy snow and cold could adversely affect the performance and friction of the tires.

Winter tires: Also known as Mud and Snow tires (M plus S), they are made for great driving control and breaking. The heavily striped tire tread with fine block designs coupled with deep broad grooves give the wheels good driving traction. Tread rubber is used to increase friction and flexibility in the cold. Additional metal studs can be added for better performance on roads that are iced over

All terrain tires: These tires are perfect for owners with cars and SUVs who travel across mud, road, sand, etc. The tire has tread patterns with wide spacing to remove mud that might accumulate while driving. The side walls of the tires are stiffer to increase their resistance to punctures.

High performance tires: These are for "sporty" cars. At the cost of longevity, these tires are lined with soft rubber to make for high speeds and increased traction.

It's always best to ask your mechanic what automotive tires best suit your car. Make sure to take into consideration how often you use your car, what temperatures and conditions you put your tires through, and you should be all set for the perfect drive! - 21392

Introduction To The Basics Of Wheel Alignment

By Will Paul

Have you ever wondered why your vehicle seems to pull to one side? Or, do the treads on the right always wear out before those on the left? Does your gas mileage decline year after year even though your engine, fuel injectors, and sensors are in top-notch shape? The culprit may be your wheel alignment. Unlike a malfunctioning alternator or failing transmission, this problem happens gradually over thousands of miles. That makes it difficult to identify.

If left unchecked, an alignment problem can cause issues with your vehicle's steering response, fuel efficiency, and overall drivability. I'll explain the factors involved below and describe how caster, camber, and toe each play a role in aligning your wheels.

Caster Explained

Caster is a measurement that reflects the tilt of the steering axis. If the steering axis tilts forward and positions itself ahead of the tire (from a side view), the caster is considered negative. If the steering axis tilts backward, it is considered positive.

Caster does not influence the wear of your treads - but, it does influence handling. The more positive it is, the "heavier" your steering control will feel. This is especially true when your vehicle is moving slowly. If one tire's caster is more positive than the other, the misalignment will cause a pull.

Camber Explained

Camber reflects the degree to which the top of a wheel tilt inward (toward the center of your car) or outward when looking at it from the front. An outward tilt is considered positive while an inward tilt is considered negative.

Camber affects tread wear. If it is too positive, the excess wear will occur on the outside portion of the tire. If the camber is too negative, the wear will occur on the inside. A misalignment will cause a pull toward the most positive camber.

Aligning The Toe

The toe of your wheels measures the amount they turn inward (again, toward the center of your car) or outward when looking at them head on. If they turn inward, the toe is considered positive. If they turn outward, it is considered negative.

Ideally, the toe will aligned as close to neutral (that is, neither positive or negative) as possible. If the toe of your tires is not aligned properly, your treads will wear down faster than normal and you'll experience a lack of stability when steering.

Enjoying Improved Drivability

Caster, camber, and toe are the basic components that affect the alignment of your vehicle's wheels. If they are severely misaligned, they can have a significant influence on your ability to steer effectively. They can cause excess tread wear as well as wear and tear on your suspension. Have the alignment checked annually to protect your car's tires, suspension, and drivability. - 21392

Buy Used Motorcycles On eBay - Factors To Consider

By Allison R Thompson

A person who wishes to buy a used motorcycle has a number of different option open to them today. They can either buy it from someone privately who has advertised in a newspaper or magazine. They could go to their local motorcycle dealer who will often have a large number available as many people will trade in their current bikes for a much newer model. Whilst the other option that is open to them is to buy it through an online auction site and in this article we will take a look at how to buy used motorcycles on the eBay auction site.

In recent months there has been a steady increase in the number of used motorcycles that are now being placed up for sale on sites like eBay. This is simply because their owners have realized that they will often get a much fairer price for it than if they just try to sell it locally. The reason for this being that they have a much wider audience that they are able to advertise their bike to. In fact today there are many motorcyclists who are willing in some cases to travel hundreds of miles because they have found what it is they want through sites like eBay.

However, if you are considering buying a used motorcycle from an auction site like eBay in this article we take a look at certain factors that need to be taken into consideration by you.

Tip 1- It is vital that before you actually begin bidding on any of the motorcycles you see for sale that you read through the seller's description thoroughly. It is this which provides the seller with the opportunity to tell you everything that they think you need to know about the motorcycle in question. If whilst you are reading through the description you find you have some questions that need answering then immediately contact the seller.

Tip 2 - Sometimes you will find that the seller has included photographs of the bike for sale on their auction site listing. But these are usually very basic ones and if you can arrange for them to forward more detailed photographs relating to the tires, engine and wheels etc. Also if you can ask them if they can provide you with copies of any documentation relating to the machine especially in relationship to the who owns the motorcycle for sale. Many should be able to easily do this by scanning the details on to their PC and then forwarding them to you in an email.

Tip 3 - Look to see what feedback rating they have achieved as a seller on eBay and what kind of feedback comments they have. This again will provide you with an idea of just whether they have previously sold anything similar on the site before and also whether you feel that you are able to trust them.

Tip 4 - If you find yourself in a situation where you are having difficulty making contact with the seller of the item that you are interested in bidding on or which you have already bid on them immediately contact eBay. Today eBay have a system in place to prevent fraudulent use by others of their auction site and if at any stage a person has difficult in making contact with the seller and they have already bid on an item they have the right then to retract that bid. Not only does this mean that the chances of you being scammed are greatly reduced but it now puts the onus on the seller to be responsible for their listing.

Therefore keeping the above points in mind will help you when it comes to buying used motorcycles on eBay. Not only will it save you time and money but also a lot of stress and heartache as well. - 21392

Saving On Car Insurance Products

By Elise Davis

Finding a suitable insurance for your car should be high on your priority list and you have to do a fair amount of research looking for the appropriate policy prior to choosing your car insurance. Thorough planning and some effort can help you save a considerable sum of money on your policy.

The process starts at the time of purchasing your car. Prior to picking your car model, you should ascertain what kind of car insurance you will be able to obtain for that car and how much it will cost. It is advisable to compare online quotes from a number of firms offering motor insurance, as they are normally less costly than what you get offline.

You must remember that one-time payment of annual premium turns out to be less expensive as the insurance firm would levy interest if you spread out the payment in monthly instalments. So it is recommended that you pay the entire premium in a single payment right at the time you are purchasing the car insurance.

You can also cut down on your expenses on car insurance if you have an impeccable driving record. In most nations, this is one of the primary considerations for firms when pricing insurance for your car, as it informs them of the risk they are undertaking. You can also curtail expenses on your car insurance premiums by putting in place state-of-the-art car security systems like burglar alarms, locking systems, etc..

You should also continue being a customer of your existing insurance company, as a majority of companies ask for lower premiums from loyal policyholders. However, you should have knowledge of the popular schemes on offer and must try availing a rebate prior to renewing your insurance with the provider.

Without ignoring the cost aspect, you should opt for an insurance which will cover loss from unexpected mishaps such as natural catastrophes, robbery, road accidents etc. A rightly chosen motor insurance policy that fits your needs and doesn't cost you dearly is a very good investment that will offer you protection from unexpected events. - 21392
