Tips For Keeping Your Driving Record Clean

By Amy Nutt

Keeping your driving record clean is essential to keeping your insurance premiums low and preventing a drivers license suspension. Drivers earn demerit points on their drivers license for such vehicle violations as speeding tickets, DUI, accidents when they are at-fault, moving violations, parking fines, etc. These violations can seriously damage one's driving record. Too many accumulated demerit points can result in high fines, a drivers license suspension, and an increase in insurance premiums.

According to Adam Haber, CEO of InsuranceQuotes.com, "Driving infractions are the main reasons why auto insurance rates go higher." Insurance companies have the ability to check your driving record, so it is essential to keep your driving record clean.

Traffic tickets such as speeding tickets can significantly raise your insurance premiums. It is important to drive the speed limit to avoid these tickets. If you receive a traffic ticket, there is a way a driver can keep it off their driving record. For instance, attending a traffic school can have a number of benefits such as canceling the traffic ticket. As well, if you attend a defensive driving school, your insurance company will give you a discount on your insurance premiums. It will also improve your driving skills, thereby decreasing the chances of having an at-fault accident. All states offer driver education programs, defensive driver programs, or traffic schools that every driver can attend. They can do this in person or on the Internet. When a driver completes the program and passes the tests, the demerit points will be removed from the driving record.

Taking an online driver safety program is a convenient way to keep your driving record clean. Classes are given using a virtual web-based program. Students are able to work at their own rate. Ask your insurance provider to recommend an online driver safety program that they will give a discount on your insurance premium once you complete the program. When you have approval to take your driver training program online, you just have to go to the site and register by submitting your information details to the driver training company. You can pay electronically using a secure web page. Once you complete payment, you will be directed to a web page where you will be provided with the program material. The course can either be taken online or as a downloaded software program.

Another way of keeping your driving record clean is to always pay your tickets on time. It could cause a lot more problems if there is an open driving infraction on your driving record. If you have an open driving violation, you may not even be able to leave the country.

The most important point to remember about keeping your driving record clean is to drive safely, don't speed, and obey all traffic laws. A bad driving record can affect your ability to get a certain job, raise your insurance policies significantly, and even cost your ability to drive. As well, with current economic conditions being so unstable, a fine can really hurt the wallet. If you have a realistic argument to fight a ticket, it may be advantageous to take your case to traffic court. The numerous benefits of maintaining a clean drive record makes it as important as having a drivers license. - 21392

The Ford Fusion As Ford's Premier Mid-Size Sedan

By Andy Zain

The Ford Fusion and its place in the market point out that it's probably truly the first actual 'world car' from the Dearborn, Michigan automaker. Built at the Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico stamping and assembly plant, it's been Ford's 'go-to' mid-size sedan for the both North and South America since making its first appearance in late 2005 for the 2006 model years.

It is also in Hermosillo's plant that the Fusion's sisters (Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ) are assembled, though the Fusion itself is the most popular of the three in the lineup. Making use of the CD3 platform, which is also shared by Mazda's 6 sedan, the Ford was designed to replace the Mondeo in Europe and Latin America, except for Argentina -- where the Mondeo is still being sold.

Ford enthusiasts like to point out that the Fusion began the evolution to the corporate 'three-bar grille' a variation of which is by now featured on every model in the FoMoCo line-up. It is also positioned in between the compact Focus and the full-size Taurus in Ford's product offerings. The Fusion has been a hit since its debut, by the way.

The Fusion was introduced in three trim levels; S, SE and full-on SEL -- that had all the bells and whistles. There are two engines offered, with the standard being an inline four-cylinder that puts out 160 horsepower, which is very nice, and a V6 powerplant that initially delivered 221 horses. The V6 can be had with the SE and SEL. A 5 speed manual or automatic transmission is available in S and SE models, while a 6 speed automatic comes with the SEL.

The Fusion continues to evolve. In 2007, Ford made all-wheel drive available with V6 models, which is a popular feature, especially in northern climes. There are a wide variety of options and standard features, with even the S model featuring convenience touches normally found only in higher-line models.

Additionally, front-seat side airbags and also side curtain bags were made standard on all three trims, along with a new perimter anti-theft alarm system. Up until 2007, all had been optional. Ford also made available a DVD-based navigation setup, along with satellite radio.

In recognition of changing consumer tastes and a increased desire for safety features - some of which were mandated by the federal government - Ford also threw a tire pressure monitoring system and anti-lock brakes into the mix in 2008. Ford's popular Microsoft-engineered SYNCH package was also made available on the Ford Fusion that year.

Perhaps the most exciting element to the Fusion is that of its redesign for 2010, which is now hitting showrooms and roads today. Bigger, roomier and more powerful across the line, it is also being offered up as a very fuel efficient gas-electric hybrid that delivers an EPA-rated 41 miles per gallon in the city, which is quite impressive. Horsepower is also impressive, at 155 ponies.

Ford alone of the three domestic automakers seems to have made it through the recent and ongoing downturn in the auto sales market relatively less-damaged than its two domestic competitors. Sales reflect this, as its recently reported an improvement year-over-year versus the still-declining sales figures the other two domestics have recently reported. The Fusion competes in a market segment traditionally dominated by certain Japanese automakers, so it has its work cut out for it, but it seems to be doing well. - 21392

The Hybrid Car Engine

By Anton Rowd

The hybrid car engine holds the key to its being an environment-friendly vehicle. They are a combination of a gas engine and an electric motor that assists a car as it accelerates, slows down and even when it stops. Throughout all these basic actions, the hybrid car engine plays a major role so that the least amount of gas is used and cleaner emissions achieved.

Breaking It Down

A gas-electric hybrid vehicle is exactly that; a car that runs on both gas and electricity. A gas-powered car has a fuel tank and it is this tank that supplies the engine with the gasoline it needs to run. The engine then turns a transmission which is what it essentially behind the turning of wheels.

An electric car's motor is powered by a set of batteries. In this case, it is the electric motor that turns the transmission that turns the wheels. Although mileage is something that gas-powered cars have been covering with great efficiency in later years, there is still the issue of air pollution, which is something a hybrid car is a solution to.

Since it doesn't run on gas alone, hybrid motor almost doesn't produce any pollution at all. But an electric car can only go so far before having to be charged again. Now, by combining these two functions into one, a hybrid car engine attempts to increase mileage while reducing emissions of a gas-powered car and also reducing the use of large amounts of fuel. And to make up for the electric motor having to be charged, it is now left to the gas-powered engine and transmission to charge the cells in the batteries found in a hybrid electric vehicle. It's a simple solution that has had great and positive effects with respect to fuel economy and eco-friendliness.

Cutting Costs

The hybrid car engine is known to help keep carbon dioxide emissions down and therefore it helps to improve our environmental situation by keeping pollution levels at bay and much lower. But most importantly (to average consumers), hybrid cars can save you money gas and maintenance costs. The engines of these cars are quite small and easy to manage so they last for a very long time and are quite durable.

In selecting your hybrid car, it's always best to consider those manufacturers that offer free part replacements for the model you have in mind. There is also the added tax break that the US government has promised to all owners of new hybrid vehicles purchased after January 1 2006.

Its environment-friendly as well as its being economical make the hybrid technology popular among both manufacturers and consumers. It is perhaps one of the most overlooked technologies in the world but a growing awareness of these vehicles will eventually lead to a future of more hybrid electric vehicles on city streets and highways. - 21392
