Automotive Radiator Flush Is An Easy Job

A radiator flush is a very simple job that most people can do. A properly maintained cooling system is very important. It keeps the motor cool and it also helps the AC cooling system functioning correctly.

Before you begin the job make sure that you have everything you will need. The radiator flush solution and proper amount of coolant. The tools you will need are a rag, screwdriver, funnel and a receptacle for catching and storing the used coolant until it can be disposed of properly.

The first thing you need to be sure of is that the motor has had plenty of time to cool off. The last thing you want is to be burned by hot coolant. Once the radiator drain or the lower radiator hose has been removed from the radiator the fluid will drain. Take the cap off to speed up the process.

Be sure that the receptacle is positioned to catch all the coolant. If the coolant spills over it can be quite messy and lead to more clean up time. The coolant bottle should tell you what is recommended for your climate. Some severe climates call for a 50/50 mix of water and coolant. Do not use only antifreeze in your cooling system as it is very corrosive.
